The remake of From Software’s seminal Demon’s Souls will be coming to PlayStation 5 on November 12th, but those who have yet to secure a pre-order for the new system are wondering whether it will be coming to PC or PS4 as well.
Dark Souls is the new action role-playing game from the developers who brought you Demon’s Souls, FromSoftware. Dark Souls will have many familiar features: A dark fantasy universe, tense dungeon crawling, fearsome enemy encounters and unique online interactions. Dark Souls is a spiritual successor to Demon’s, not a sequel. Demon's Souls is an action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware for the PlayStation 3 under the supervision of SCE Japan Studio. It was published in Japan by Sony Computer Entertainment in February 2009, in North America by Atlus USA in October 2009, and in PAL territories by Namco Bandai Games in June 2010.
The original Demon’s Souls debuted on the PlayStation 3 in 2009, and is the forerunner to the far more popular Dark Souls series. The new remake, from Sony Interactive Entertainment and Bluepoint Games, attempts to recreate the experience of playing the challenging game, bringing it to a new generation who might have missed it the first time.

There is precedent for From Software’s games releasing on PC – Dark Souls eventually made its way to Steam a year after release. Similarly, some PS5 games, such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales, are also releasing on PlayStation 4.

Will Demon’s Souls release on PC?
According to Sony, Demon’s Souls will not release on PC at the same time as PS5 – in the original announcement trailer, it was claimed that the game is “Also available on PC,” but Sony later stated that this was “human error“. That said, the game may still come to PC eventually.
Over the past year, Sony has been experimenting with letting PlayStation exclusives come to PC after a set time period. The most promient of these former PlayStation exclusives to come to PC is Horizon: Zero Dawn – the game was a PS4 system seller in 2017, but was released on Steam in August of 2020.
It’s entirely possible that the trailer that claimed the game is coming to PC is in fact correct. That said, nothing is set in stone yet, and Sony wouldn’t want plans for a PC port to distract from the game’s potential as an early PS5 system seller.

Will Demon’s Souls release on PS4?
Demon’s Souls will not release on the PS4 at the same time as PS5, but leaks suggest it could be coming to the PlayStation 4 eventually. Hungarian retailer Media Markt has published a PS4 listing for the game, leading to speculation.
This falls in line with the earlier gameplay trailer for the game, which claims that Demon’s Souls is “not available on other consoles for a limited time”. While it is unconfirmed, there’s every possibility that the game will be released on PS4.
Regardless of whether the game eventually comes to PC or PS4, at the time of its launch, Demon’s Souls will be a PS5 exclusive, so the only way to play it while it’s brand new is to purchase it on PlayStation 5.

Demon’s Souls first appeared on the PlayStation 3 in 2009 and quickly became the reference point for challenging mainstream games. Sony kept the inaugural Souls installment exclusive to their platform despite the series later moving on to more platforms with the Dark Souls trilogy. Now Demon’s Souls is making a harrowing return as an equally gorgeous and grim remake, prepared to enrage a whole new generation of players on a new generation of consoles.
With From Software’s other succeeding works — Dark Souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and the upcoming Elden Ring — all spanning multiple platforms, the question remains: will the Demon’s Souls remake finally break free of its PlayStation shackles and release on PC?
Demon Souls Pc Remake
The answer, at least at the moment, is no. The Demon’s Souls PS5 remake announcement was originally accompanied by the text, “Also available on PC.” Sadly, a follow-up statement was issued claiming the inclusion of the text was due to human error. Whether or not the explanation is actually true cannot be determined, although it’s hard to believe there isn’t a future where PC players have an opportunity to get in on the punishing action.
Sony has stated as recently as August 2020 that the company “will explore expanding [their] 1st party titles to the PC platform.” We have already seen this occur with Horizon Zero Dawn and Death Stranding. The Demon’s Souls situation is sounding more like “when,” not “if” as it relates to a PC release.
However, that is purely speculation at this point. Without a definitive answer on the existence, or lack thereof, of timed exclusivity on PS5 from Sony or developer Bluepoint Games, we are left with only the news that the Demon’s Souls remake is a next gen Sony exclusive and will remain so for the foreseeable future.
